This Web Design Case Study is an example of a highly optimised wordpress website that had been built by a web design compan6 in Cardiff (which was then bought out by another web design company, and once again was bought out by another web design company in Cardiff).
The Outdoor Activities Centre owners were feeling isolated by their web designers as the only web amendments made possible we’re through a sales representative, at no point were they able to talk directly to the web design company. Having heard about our web design company in Bridgend, and being recommended by other businesses, they spoke to one of our qualified web designer/ SEO experts in order to develop their website further.
The web designers in our office we’re excited to work on this adventure website as we all love outdoor pursuits, but when we inherited this outdoor pursuits website, our web designer crew had a mild heart attack when they first logged in to take a look at how it was built!
…to put it bluntly, the CMS was a mess! Although the original web designers had purchased a good WordPress theme, they had edited the core files, thus enabling it out of date as soon as the WordPress theme developers had rolled out an incremental/maintenance update.
As the original web design company had edited the core files, it meant the theme and various important plugins were unable to be updated. Which in turn meant that as WordPress released its updates, each CMS component broke, eventually the business owners were unable to edit their website using the ‘wysiwyg’ editor and instead had to learn how to read HTML. The website then became out of date and various features broke, which then resulted in a poor user experience and drop in sales.
Then in walked our web designers!
In our studio, our web design crew were able to back up the WordPress files and database, fix the broken pages, update plugins and slowly upgrade WordPress to the latest stable version (this was important to prevent security breaches and prevent the website from being hacked).
With the website now up and running once again, our current phase of web development is to upgrade the WordPress theme to the latest version bu means of purchasing newer version, then install the website with the ne theme onto a development server and fix any bugs before making it live to the public.
In addition to fixing the WordPress issues, our web developers are assisting with on-site SEO, analysing the visitor and search engine statistics and Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising.
The end result is a broken WordPress website that had been fixed, is now fully functional and will soon be fairly future proof.
If you have a WordPress website that is broken, why not give us a call and let one of the web developers take a look. Maybe our web development team can fix your website for you too?
